21 May 2025, Midrand, South Africa:  The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has reaffirmed its commitment to regional infrastructure development. The PPDF aims to create a favorable investment climate by funding the preparation of cross-border infrastructure projects that drive regional integration.

Today SADC’s Project Preparation and Development Facility (PPDF), managed by the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), approved its first allocation of preparation funding.​This was in the tune of US$ 3.5 million towards the development of the multi country Regional Interconnector Transmission Line Project.

The AU Regional Delegate to Southern Africa, SADC and COMESA, H.E. Dr. Auguste Ngomo, paid a courtesy call on the SADC Secretariat on Monday February 8, 2016, and presented his credentials to the SADC Executive Secretary, H.E. Dr. Stergomena Lawrence Tax. The two parties discussed matters of mutual interest to the AU and SADC. Dr. Tax congratulated Dr. Ngomo for his appointment and wished him success in his duties as the AU Regional Delegate to Southern Africa, SADC and COMESA.

The SADC Secretariat will hold a High Level Resource Mobilization Workshop and Energy Investors Conference on 12-13 July, 2017 in Ezulwini, Kingdom of Swaziland to showcase investment opportunities in the energy sector, focusing on specific flagship projects.
